COURSE DESCRIPTION


The Gardner Institute Mindset for Success Coach Training provides an extensive professional development experience that prepares you for success in the fast emerging coaching profession, including preparation for an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential and developing your coaching business.

Mindset for Success Course DescriptionWhether you are new to coaching or a seasoned coach looking to coach at a deeper spiritual level, we have a program for you!

We offer the flexibility of both on-site and teleclass or webinar classes.  You may enroll in our 30 or 60-hour Core course or our full 102-hour Core and Mindset offering.

With successful completion of the Core and Mindset courses, including written and oral exams, you earn:

  • 102 ICF Approved Coach Specific Training Hours (ACSTH) for ICF credentials. (36 additional hours are pending ICF formal approval)
  • Certification as a Gardner Institute Mindset for Success Coach and the right to use the proprietary Mindset process with your clients
  • Placement on the Gardner Institute website as an Independent Mindset for Success Coach
  • Mentoring by ICF credentialed PCC Coaches

In addition, unique to The Gardner Institute, we provide our coach graduates with continued interaction with a strong and active coaching community, including opportunities for ongoing networking, training and client referral.  Our Core course includes specific steps for jumpstarting your coaching business – a gap in many coach training schools.

The curriculum is organized into three primary courses, Core Coach Training (60 hours) and Mindset for Success (The Dialogues) Coach Training (42 hours) and Advanced Mindset (36 hours).

Core Coach Training Course

Description and Objectives

The course teaches a practical set of coaching concepts, tools and techniques, with strong emphasis on the International Coach Federation (ICF) Code of Ethics and Core Competencies.  It is a 60-hour course, consisting of a 4-day on-site workshop (30 hours) and 20 teleclasses (30 hours).  The 60 hours are recognized and accepted as Approved Coach Specific Training Hours (ACSTH) by ICF for credential requirements.

The course consists of four classes:

Introduction to Coaching – This class is part of the 4-day workshop.  It provides an overview of the coaching profession and how it has evolved.  It introduces beginning level coaching skills and ICF guidelines and standards.  The primary focus is on setting the coaching foundation, co-creating the coaching relationship, basic communication skills, goal setting, and engaging and focusing the client.  Teaching is didactic as well as experiential.  Each participant will experience the role of coach as well as observe actual coaching demonstrations conducted by the instructors.

Objectives:  At the end of this class, participants will be able to articulate and demonstrate a talking knowledge of the coaching profession, ICF Code of Ethics, ICF Core Competencies, use of various coaching tools and methods, and clarify their vision of themselves as a coach.

Coaching Ethics – This class is part of the 4-day workshop.  It is a study of the ICF Code of Ethics, with in-depth discussion of each part, along with role plays.  Teaching is didactic as well as experiential.  Each participant will experience the role of coach, with feedback from peers and instructors.

Objectives:  At the end of this class, participants will be able to articulate and demonstrate comprehension of the ICF Code of Ethics and how to effectively apply them appropriately in a variety of coaching situations.

Core Coaching Practice – This 16-session class provides in-depth study of each of the ICF Core Competencies and how to apply them in a variety of “real world” coaching situations.  Each participant will experience the roles of coach, client and observer.  As coach, they will receive feedback, ideas, encouragement and suggestions from their colleagues and the instructors. They will learn to establish a coaching agreement, create awareness and action, facilitate results, and manage accountability and progress.

Objectives:  At the end of this class, participants will be able to articulate and demonstrate comprehension of the ICF Core Competencies and how to effectively apply them appropriately in a variety of coaching situations.

Marketing Your Coaching Business – This 4-session class addresses various marketing practices used in a coaching business to prepare the participants for attracting clients and starting their coaching business.

Objectives:  At the end of this class, participants will be able to effectively (1) define their niche and develop and present their “elevator speech” to attract clients, (2) develop plans to market and manage their coaching business, and (3) establish a coaching relationship with paying clients, demonstrating adherence to ICF Code of Ethics and Core Competencies.

Prerequisites for Core Coach Training

Applicants must submit the Gardner Institute Coach Training Application, their resume and two letters of recommendation, prior to the posted deadline for consideration into the program.

The Gardner Institute trains coaches who are committed to their own personal growth, based on the premise that individuals first must be willing to work on themselves before earning the right to coach others.  Applicants must be willing to be authentic, open and honest during coaching practices.

Hire a Coach:  In order to foster this mindset, all applicants are encouraged to work with a coach for at least 3 months during Core training.  If the applicant plans to enroll in the Mindset for Success course also, we recommend hiring a Certified Gardner Institute Mindset for Success Coach.

Exceptions to these prerequisites are considered on a case-by-case basis.
 

Mindset for Success (The Dialogues) Coach Training Course

Description and Objectives

This course provides advanced-level professional development for coaches.  It integrates the proprietary Mindset for Success coaching model, developed by Dr. Jayne Gardner, with the ICF Core Competencies, teaching you how to coach your clients to attain a high level of success and sustainable self-directed change in their professional and personal lives.  It is a 42-hour course, consisting of a 5-day on-site workshop (39.5 hours) and 2 teleclasses (2.5 hours).  Successful completion of the course leads to certification as a Mindset for Success Coach.  The 42 hours are accepted as Approved Coach Specific Training Hours (ACSTH) by ICF for credential requirements.

Mindset for Success Retreat Practicum – The workshop provides an in-depth study of how to coach each of the 12 Mindset for Success Dialogues, integrated with the ICF Core Competencies.  It is an advanced-level forum, with hands-on, comprehensive study and practice of coaching the Mindset for Success (The Dialogues) process.  It includes coaching practices and discussion, combined with continued focus on the ICF Core Competencies.

Each participant will experience the roles of coach, client and observer as well as observe actual coaching demonstrations conducted by the instructors.  As coach, they will receive feedback, ideas, encouragement and suggestions from their colleagues and the instructors to successfully integrate The Dialogues with the ICF Core Competencies.

Objectives:  At the end of this course, participants will be able to demonstrate mastery of the Mindset for Success coaching model, including the criteria for each Dialogue and a unique and practical set of coaching concepts, tools and techniques, integrated with the ICF Core Competencies.

Prerequisites for Mindset Coach Training

Applicants must submit the Gardner Institute Coach Training Application, their resume and two letters of recommendation, prior to the posted deadline for consideration into the program.

Applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled in (and successfully complete) the Gardner Institute Core Coach Training Course; or
  • Have previously successfully completed the Gardner Institute Core course; or
  • Have completed at least 60 hours of ICF approved coach training; or
  • Already hold an ICF credential.
  • And, have completed the Mindset for Success coaching process (The Dialogues) prior to the 5-day workshop.

Applicants must include proof of ICF credential or of successful completion of ICF approved coach training hours along with their application, when applicable.

Gardner Institute reserves the right to approve (accept/not accept) coach training hours completed elsewhere as a prerequisite to enrollment in the Mindset for Success course.

The Gardner Institute trains coaches who are committed to their own personal growth, based on the premise that individuals first must be willing to work on themselves before earning the right to coach others.  Applicants must be willing to be authentic, open and honest during coaching practices.

Hire a Coach:  In order to foster this mindset and to become a Certified Mindset for Success Coach, all applicants for the Mindset course must complete The Dialogues with a Gardner Institute Certified Mindset for Success Coach prior to the 5-day class.  Hiring a Mindset Coach is a condition for enrollment.  No exceptions.

The Mindset process usually takes at least 6 months, therefore applicants should begin coaching at least 6 months prior to the scheduled start of the course.  A written statement of the participant’s status in The Dialogues process is required from their coach.  Therefore all applicants for Mindset must agree that their coach may provide this status, in compliance with ICF Code of Ethics, Section 4:  Confidentiality/Privacy, item 23

Exceptions to these prerequisites are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Advanced Mindset Coach Training Course

Description and Objectives

This year-long course provides a deeper level of professional development for Mindset coaches.  It is based on the latest research in neuroscience and integrates advanced principles and techniques with the ICF Core Competencies, giving Mindset coaches a deeper mastery of the knowledge and skill to coach clients to reach a higher level of success – to shift their thoughts from negative to positive and to transform their lives with unlimited possibilities.  Mindset for Success is noted in the coaching world for its vertically deep and spiritual impact on the client.  This 36-hour course consists of 12 3-hour on-site workshops.  It is pending approval as Approved Coach Specific Training Hours (ACSTH) by ICF for credential requirements.

Objectives:  At the end of this course, participants will be able to demonstrate mastery of (1) an expanded level of understanding and integration of the Mindset process and the supporting neuroscience research and (2) integration of ICF Core Competencies more deeply into the Mindset process to move toward more masterful coaching.

Prerequisites for Advanced Mindset Coach Training

Applicants must:

  • Submit the Gardner Institute Advanced Mindset Coach Training Application for consideration into the course.
  • Have completed the 42-hour Mindset for Success (The Dialogues) course.
